Joyce Ann Smith

	Joyce Ann Smith, age 62, of Pinckneyville, passed away Saturday morning, February 23, 2002 at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
	Joyce was born in Benton on September 22, 1939, the daughter of Clifford and Eloise (Adams) Rice.  She was united in marriage to Roger Smith October 8, 1960 at the First Pentecostal Church in Pinckneyville and he survives.  Joyce had been a resident of Pinckneyville since 1964, coming from Benton, Ill.  She was a member of First Apostolic Church of Pinckneyville and taught Sunday School for many years.  Joyce was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and an avid Panther sports fan.
	Joyce is survived by her husband Roger, of Pinckneyville, two sons:  Steve Smith and wife Dawn and Mark Smith and wife Nancy, both of Pinckneyville, one daughter, Erin Queen and husband Toby, also of Pinckneyville, two brothers; Gerald Rice and Dennis Rice and his wife Vivian, both of Benton and seven grandchildren, Lauren, Collin and Tyler Smith, Elvin and Elias Opp and Hunter and Logan Queen.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Cheryl Lynn Rice.
	Funeral services were held Monday morning, February 25 at the First Apostolic Church in Pinckneyville at 11 a.m. with Reverend Leonard Glover officiating.  Interment was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery.
	A private family visitation was held prior to services on Monday morning.
	Memorials may be made to the Oncology Department of Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
	Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville was in charge of arrangements.
